WALKING IN PARQUE JAIME DUQUE

The park is the realization of a dream of Jaime Duque, who wanted to leave an important Colombian cultural and recreational center, which in turn generates resources to support the less fortunate in the society.

Parque Jaime Duque opened to the public on February 27 of 1983. It is located in the town of Tocancipá at kilometer 34 of the North Freeway, 30 minutes from the city of Bogotá. It is a unique place, considered by the Discovery Travel & Living channel as one of the top five parks in Latin America.

The park is an institution of culture and recreation created with the aim of supporting children, the elderly, education, culture, recreation and promote environmental stewardship. Today, thanks to its visitors, the park dedicates its profits:

- Maintenance of various nursing homes and institutions for children.

- Allows free entry to thousands of children covered by non-profit institutions.

- Finances and promotes through an agreement with Universidad de la Salle research projects on Colombian fauna.

- Fund programs and promotes conservation of species in danger of extinction like the Condor of the Andes, THE Paujil Pico Blue and The Gray Titi among others, in association with ACOPAZOA.

- Promotes actions for the conservation of the environment.

- Maintenance and construction of new attractions.

For it, commitment to the environment is essential, we have developed several programs that have been recognized by Planting Colombia Foundation, receiving the Silver Seal in the year 2010.

Colegio Luigi Pirandello’s students had the opportunity to visit this beautiful park where they had fun visiting the zoo, going for walks where they learned about the history and evolution of human beings, apart from many other activities where they learned yet is amused, making this a didactic task.
